
Authorities from the Civil Supplies Criminal Investigation Department (CSCID) received a secret report concerning large-scale illegal transportation of ration rice in Tiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu. Investigations revealed that ration rice, intended for low-income families under the Public Distribution System (PDS), was being secretly stockpiled and transported to Andhra Pradesh for illicit resale at marked-up prices.

During their regular inspection, authorities noticed a truck which is parked near to the warehouse in Tamil Nadu, and it’s loaded with ration rice. Since ration rice is mainly meant for low income and poor families, the authorities decided to keep a close eye on the truck and carefully noticed their actions. Soon Authorities verified that a truck was being prepared to smuggle 37 tons of ration rice into Andhra Pradesh. Acting immediately on this intelligence, the CSCID team started a raid. Their prompt action halted the unlawful movement of rice.
