Authorities from the Civil Supplies Criminal Investigation Department (CSCID) received a secret report concerning large-scale illegal transportation of ration rice in Tiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu. Investigations revealed that ration rice, intended for low-income families under the Public Distribution System (PDS), was being secretly stockpiled and transported to Andhra Pradesh for illicit resale at marked-up prices.

Soon Authorities verified that a truck was being prepared to smuggle 37 tons of ration rice into Andhra Pradesh. Acting immediately on this intelligence, the CSCID team started a raid. Their prompt action halted the unlawful movement of rice.
