From Buds to Blooms – Srinagar's Floral Tunes

Srinagar, often called the ‘Paradise on Earth,’ is all set to welcome visitors with the opening of Asia’s largest tulip garden on March 26. Located at the foot of the Zabarwan Hills and overlooking the calm Dal Lake, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden will amaze visitors with more than 1.7 million tulips in full bloom, turning the area into a colourful and beautiful place for nature lovers, photographers, and tourists to enjoy.

Heaven’s Flowerbed

Covering 74 acres, the garden showcases more than 68 varieties of tulips, each with its own vibrant colour, shape, and charm. From bright reds and golden yellows to soft pinks and pure whites, the garden offers a stunning mix of colours that delight every visitor. In addition to tulips, visitors can also admire other spring flowers like hyacinths, daffodils, muscari, and ranunculus. Together, these blossoms create a magical and colourful scene, making the garden a perfect place to enjoy the beauty of spring.

Next-Gen Gardening:

The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department has transformed this year’s tulip season into a vibrant spectacle. New floral varieties burst with colour, while expanded, beautifully landscaped walkways invite visitors to stroll and admire the beauty. Charming photo spots and shaded seating offer perfect places to pause and capture memories. With a state-of-the-art irrigation system nurturing every bloom, the garden stands as both a stunning tourist destination and a symbol of nature’s delicate artistry.

Spring Magic in Kashmir:

The tulip garden has become one of the biggest attractions during Kashmir’s Spring season. Every year, more than two lakh people visit the garden in just four to six weeks while the flowers are in bloom. This large number of tourists helps the local economy, supporting hotel owners, taxi drivers, local artists, and small vendors. Around the garden, visitors can find shops selling Kashmiri handicrafts, food stalls with traditional dishes, and souvenir stores — giving them a chance to enjoy both the beauty of nature and Kashmir’s rich culture. The success of the garden has also encouraged eco-friendly tourism and inspired more gardening and flower projects across the valley.

The administration has ensured a smooth and safe visit with ample parking, shuttle services, help desks, clear signage, and tight security. Open daily from 9 AM to 7 PM with an affordable entry fee, the garden offers a perfect family outing, complete with medical aid and drinking water facilities.
